Alexei Rustborn: Aka The White Fox

Alexei was born to two talented Wood Elven mages, Vulred and Natasia Addan in Enya. Not that she remembers them, anyway. They rose to political prominence by providing information on human caravans providing materials to settlers, allowing the elves to intercept the materials, inconveniencing the humans attempting to encroach on historic elven homeland.

Eventually, The couple was discovered to be double agents, providing insider information about Elven troop movements to their informant, a dwarven crime lord named Tazna Rustborn, colloquially called The Boar, running a gang called the Beastial Enclave. They were thrown in a holding cell for questioning when Alexei was just a baby. Natasia and Vuldren were murdered in custody, whether by a goon sent by Tazna, a crooked guard, or something else entirely.

Perhaps feeling some form of guilt, Tazna took Alexei in and fled to the Myridian Empire, starting a new base of operations with a newborn.

Tazna was quick to tell anyone that she was in no way a mother, and told Alexei her parent’s fate as soon as she was old enough to understand, repeatedly saying “I’m not ya mom, kid.” Nevertheless, she was protective of her like a daughter (or a trophy,) and she loved her like a mother, even introducing herself as a Rustborn.

Tazna, admittedly not the best mother, and would show her darker side at times when upset, for the most part showing her love, or something that looked like it to Alexei, also taught her the art of stealth and hand to hand combat, putting her to work as early as 7, mostly using her as a cute decoy. Then, aged 21, she was trusted to perform heists and assassinations all on her own, wearing a white mask and earning a colloquial name of The White Fox and officially entering The Bestial Enclave

Some 40 years laters, she was discovered by the Myridian government. She was thrown in jail for a life sentence, with officials promising an early release if she acted as a mole against the mysterious crime lord she appeared to be working for. Alexei refused to rat out the only family she had ever known. She stayed in jail for 15 odd years not feeling like much to an Elf, before being offered another, more peculiar deal. work with the military, secure the future of her home, and walk a free woman.

Slip up and get put down like a dog. The rest is history.

The following contains information Alexei knows, some that she doesn’t, and room for you to fill in blanks or take liberties

The Boar: The head honcho. Alexei’s “mom.” hard to read. treats people as assets or tools. Master manipulator. Godfathercore. Always was incredibly sweet towards Alexei, the golden child

• The Bluejay (or “Jay”) high ranking agent. Grizzled middle aged elf. Dilf vibes. rough stubble, the works. Was on a far away mission in Enya profiting on the conflict between the wood elves and the settling humans. a key pair of informants was caught, a successful wood elf interrogation would comprise the mission. On a lucky coincidence (was it?) they died under mysterious circumstances in holding, leaving a young Alexei of barely 8 years. through pity, guilt, compassion, or something else, the Bluejay took the child back to the Enclave. Alexei remembers listening through a door to hear the Bluejay and the Boar arguing, but couldnt make out the words. The Jay taught Alexei how to avoid unwanted attention and protect herself, never treating her with very kind words or with much patience, telling her that the world will be ruthless and so much she.
• The Puma: An middle aged (elderly now?) Half orc woman with a thick accent. Poison specialist. always looked at Alexei with a deep sadness, fussing over her and calling her sweet girl, soft one, other pet names that Alexei resented while she cut and braided her hair, mended her clothes, etc. wise, piercing eyes
• The Wolf- Another girl, a tiefling, around Alexei’s age that joined the Enclave in young adulthood. vied for the Boar’s affection in a weird way, was extremely jealous of how Alexei was treated. An Enchantress and illusionist. sorcerer.
• Crickets- lanky human man with a fucked up and sardonic sense of humor and gaudy clothes. A bard playing the lyre by trade, but in actuality a rogue. taught Alexei the art of thievery, and gave her her sense of humor. The Boar gave him his name from the fact that “no one laughs at his jokes”
• The Owl: A literal owlin. Doesnt do much field work, but is a master with divination and research. Nervous and paranoid, but kind. confusing how he got mixed up in this.
• The Elephant: A big buff bruiser Human lady. barbarian? with firey red hair and freckles, intermingled with many scars. Kind, quiet. Depending on who you ask, either really dumb or just straight forward and hard to read. The subject of a young Alexei’s pranks more than once. would never get too mad.
